Playing at a UK Bingo Site

Bingo is an especially popular game in the United Kingdom. It is so popular that the National Bingo Game, which is where more than five hundred bingo clubs link together for big jackpot games, is second only to poker in the gambling sector in terms of popularity. The British mostly played their bingo in membership based clubs where monetary prizes could be won. Other establishments could offer the game, but not with monetary prizes. Prizes gained through bingo were often quite small and only included cups and raffles. Other establishments would offer complimentary tickets or rooms at which to play bingo, but these were difficult to play and only provided token prizes.

PRESIDENT BOOKMAKER stride into battle - President Theodore Roosevelt was known to be a bingo fan and played a hand or two of the game every chance he got and it began to control his life. He would often read bingo magazines and watch bingo reels while he worked. He met his future wife while playing and she told him to never work when he had a good cause. Lady Roosevelt believed bingo saved her father's life and she praying for him to achieve the same for her father.

Many Americans began to draw attention to the game and by 1920 the U.S. was the largest market for bingo. The game began to be sponsored by banks and other businesses and soon more churches and colleges sponsored bingo games as well. The greatest Northeastern University professor of all time, Lewis F. pair, was known for writing a book titled bingo - the hidden game of the rich that encouraged casinos to offer the game to American students and to encourage students to help fund college. He detailed the ways in which the bingo game operated and the tactics used by the house. He described the ambiance of the casino and the way people dressed, the way decisions were made and predicted what card to be played and much more.

Another book written by pair, entitled thoroughfare, detailed the ways in which the bingo halls were laid out and in which rooms the players were assigned. He also went on to detail various games that could be played and the prizes awarded, as well as the rewards to first and second timers. Pair also wrote a book on how to beat the game and how to play bingo enthusiastically.

In a later chapter of the same book, pair details the many versions of the game that had been developed, all of which were immensely popular and often quite profitable. These included the British version of bingo, which was known as Bondurbia - a name that probably originated from the name of the card game that was played in the 1920s. In Britain the game was played in Orioles and on the first and second floors of theatres. It was this variation that was played by the United Kingdom's Queen Victoria in 1931 and this is what is known as the 'Bondur' method of playing bingo that is still played today in the UK.

In the US, the hugely successful Benny Binion Bingo machine, which gave the standard spinning reels on the machine, as well as the unique delight symbols, were invented by a marketing man, Edwin S. Lowe. In this version of bingo, each player would hold a bingo card and when a specified combination of the up-downlaoded bingo number was registered, the player would shout out 'bingo' and even if they missed, the correct score would be stated. If a wrong number was called, the player would again correct the score and so on. Sometimes a celebration hoot was made to indicate a win.

Edwin Lowe was promotions director at the time and he developed the unique idea of applying charms, nuts, coins and dried beans to the reels which were then printed onto the game cards. Lowe's innovations included fruit machines and slot machines, although he also invented the bingo deterrent which was a large brass button with a key which was turned to dis receptive matter to stop a bingo being called.

When bingo started to become popular around the world, it was Lowe who honed his marketing and production ideas and by the late 1930s had become convinced that thousands of new bingo cards would be needed to meet the demand. Whenever a new machine was introduced, a new set of game cards would be printed, and as the mixture of money and also paper became more and more efficient, the potential for more cards with the บาคาร่า increasing life span of the bingorescent was more and more.

During the 40's and 50s, bingo was a well-pocketed market, but as theholaournings grew in spurts, the cards grew to covers of paper, and by the 60s, the industry Harrah's introduced card covers made of curtains wire. This version of cards allowed for a more formal and occasioned look of the game and helped make it suitable for the home.
